Mervin Archer is a passionate photographer and has worked in the medium over many decades. He has interests in a wide range of subjects. His artistic eye sees the beauty in scenes as far ranging as urban and rural landscapes; places of worship; to the challenges of people in street scenes, or the technical discipline of night photography. He has also trained in black and white developing and printing.

He allows light to pervade his work, whether in the stillness of water on a lake, the dappled light of leaves in a forest or neon lights in cityscapes. He excels in the photography of live dance where his instinctive understanding of choreography enables him to capture movement in challenging lighting conditions where the moment  would otherwise be lost for ever.

He has photographed dance performance in a wide range of venues during his career, including a live TV broadcast in St Etheldreda’s Church in the City of London; the famous St Martin -in -the -Fields in Trafalgar Square; the Shaw Theatre, London, the Chatelet Theatre Paris; The Lilian Baylis Studio, Sadler’s Wells and the prestigious Theatre des Champs -Elysees, Paris, as well as numerous dance festivals in various areas of London including Redbridge Dance Link Gala in East London. His work has been published in newspapers and featured in “In Him we Move -Creative Dancing in Worship" by Janet Randell, published by Solway.
